Very few people ever accept the blame for the things that go wrong in their relationships for which they are responsible. Why? Because people are almost always the heroes of their own narratives, even if they are actually the villains.
It’s a blind spot that often gets overlooked. Being naturally self- preserving, we almost never see our role in contributing to a conflict.
So, whether we play the victim or victor in the stories we tell of our clashes with others, we almost always have a hero complex.
