There is a subtle difference between forgiving and overlooking an offense. Forgive, don’t overlook.
Forgiveness takes an offence into proper account, separates the offence from the offender, and resumes the relationship whatever it was, filial, business, romantic or professional.
Overlooking, on the other hand, is actually the opposite. The offence and the offender are simply dismissed as if no wrong was done. In time, these many dismissals fill an invisible container of poor behaviour. The relationship becomes vitriolic…and boom. Someone gets axed, killed, divorced, separated and… you get the drift.
