In almost every sphere of life, humans function somewhere along two ends of a cultural spectrum.
They are either hierarchy-oriented or network-oriented or a mix of both, depending on where their cultural values lay on the spectrum.
Many of the conflicts in society do not emanate from a mere clash of opinions but from this substructure of culture, even as some people thrive in hierarchies and others do better in networks. If you pay attention to people around you, you can tell what they value culturally and how their values dictate how you might relate to them.
