Very often, we are sold on the idea of the ‘strong and dominant leader,’ when in actuality leadership has very little to do with strength and domination.
You don’t have to be domineering to lead. Leadership is also not about ableism, wit or charisma. Rather, leadership, in every sense, is the ability to facilitate the expression and execution of ideas. Think of Gandhi, Churchill and Mandela.
If you cannot advance the realization of an idea or set of ideas, you shouldn’t be called a leader, no matter your title.
My most recent lesson on leadership is that its true definition is ” caring for those in your care”
