Loneliness is the biggest crisis in the world today. Four out of every five adults experience loneliness across the world, sometime in the course of their lives.
But what is loneliness? Loneliness is a subjective feeling of being cut off from authentic connection. For this reason, certain people can be with others, in marriages, relationships and other social arrangements, and still feel lonely. Loneliness doesn’t come from the loss of social connection, but authentic connection, through fear, shame, and the feeling of separation.
If you ever feel bored, lonely or disconnected in any relationship, it’s not just the other person, but the authenticity of the connection. Are you being vulnerable with him or her, and is he or she being vulnerable with you?
