Sometimes, I see certain people and I can tell that their hope has left. I can tell, looking into their eyes that something or someone, during their lives, beat it neatly out of them.
It could have been a parent, or a school teacher or the state, the real hurt, the medicating, and the uncertainty in their voice comes from this ejection of hope.
However, hope is contagious, and because of this, recoverable. And the light that once shined in those eyes can shine again. If you have hope, give it whenever you can. A smile, a hug, a kiss, a word of encouragement or prayer will do the trick. Give it. Receive it. And let the hope contagion spread.
