I can’t say this enough but leadership is not about titles. It’s a mindset that says, you are responsible no matter the capacity you find yourself to help people discover or live their best.
It’s a mentality that takes ownership by being the light in a world full of darkness. It could be giving a smile, saying I love you, writing a letter or creating a product that enhances the mental health of a particular niche.
At a time when we have become so accustomed to looking to strong men, presidents, prime ministers and generals for leadership, it should matter that we do not numb our internal governance apparatus aka gut, and it’s the ability to point us in the direction of questions that our lives were designed to answer.
Leadership is about knowing and using your agency in a way that helps others live better and freer lives. Leadership in essence, is the enhancement of human freedom. In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.”
It really doesn’t matter who you are or where you are. Leadership is a mindset that serves others in a way they need to be served.
